Archaeology Fair Call for Booths
Archaeology Fair at the Marquette Regional History Center
Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 11:00-3:00
Join us at the Marquette Regional History Center! International Archaeology Day focuses on getting people interested in history through archaeology. This fair will introduce youth and adults alike to archaeology through hands-on activities, dig site stories, games and displays. Local experts will be here to share their work and expertise. This is the History Center’s 11th annual fair; as a Collaborating Organization with the Archaeological Institute of America, we explore and celebrate local historical evidence and world-wide archaeology as well.
Archaeology Fair is an open-house event. Come anytime 11:00-3:00. Great for all ages including families, clubs, scouts, and individuals. Fair included with museum admission.
Call for booth participants!
Volunteers lead activities and/or have displays at booths throughout the History Center’s C. Fred Rydholm Gathering Hall, upstairs, and in the exhibit gallery. Demonstrations, hands-on activities, computer stations, crafts, interactive games and displays, and more are all encouraged, with an all-ages oriented focus. Attendees include families with young children, upper elementary students, college age young adults, and adults on their own.
All archaeology, geo-archaeology, and anthropology related ideas are welcomed. Volunteers will be provided with tables and chairs, and will be welcomed to enjoy the fair and museum.
Please note: no sales at booths. This is an interest fair and not a sales fair. Thank you!
Are you interested?
We encourage folks to team up to put together an activity or display at their booth.
Booth registration forms are due by Friday, October 11th. Booth concepts will be reviewed to avoid duplicating activities. Our fair is listed on the AIA website among other participating fairs throughout the world during this exciting day recognizing archaeology:
www.archaeologyday.org - this is a great resource for booth ideas and examples, or just ask us for additional ideas! Registering volunteers should be age 15 and up.
How to participate:
Gather your ideas and friends and submit your form; booth registration forms are above. Please submit this online for 2024. If you would like a form emailed or mailed to you contact Betsy Rutz, Museum Educator: [email protected] or 906-226-3571
